Make Mother's Day Something Extra Special With Easy to Make Bon Bons

Looking for a great Mother's Day gift? How about making elegant Bon Bons for your mom or wife! Easy, affordable, and very delicious these Bon Bons will be a favorite for years to come. Tell your children to put on their aprons because these are so easy to make, they can help.

You will need:

* 1 cake mix,
* frosting,
* white dipping chocolate, white chocolate chips or almond bark

Choose a flavor like strawberry, lemon, orange, white, carrot, or spice. Make the cake mix as directed on the package. Bake it in a 9" x 13" pan. Once it is baked and cooled, remove the cake from the pan with your hands or with a spoon. (This is where the kids come in and trust me, they will love this part!) Put the baked cake in a large bowl. Crumble the cake.

Next add the prepared frosting mix, either store bought or your own recipe and mix it in the bowl with the cake. I know it sounds crazy but this is what makes the Bon Bons so delicious! Next pull out a cookie sheet and put a layer of wax paper on it. Have your children make rounded walnut size balls of the cake and frosting mixture and put them on the cookie sheet layered with wax paper. Make sure you spread them out enough on your cookie sheet so they don't touch.

It will probably take two cookie sheets to get all the cake and frosting mixture out. Then stick your cookies sheets in the freezer. Once the cake balls are frozen remove them from the freezer. Melt your white dipping chocolate, white chocolate chips, or almond bark in the microwave according to the directions on your package. Be careful not to burn the chocolate.

Let the melted chocolate cool a bit. Then drop a cake ball into the chocolate and use your hands or a spoon to cover the cake ball with the chocolate then set it back on top of the wax paper on the cold cookie sheet. Continue this process until all the cake balls are covered. They need to sit until the chocolate is no longer glossy. They should easily pull off the wax paper ready to be beautifully packaged or served on an elegant plate.

You can buy a white or colored candy box. Put parchment or wax paper inside. Place Bon Bons on the paper and then cover them with a piece of parchment or wax paper. Gently tuck it around and on top of the Bon Bons. Place a little splash of color with tissue paper on top of that and tie the box with wired ribbon of your choice. Voila! Add a note that says something like, "We're sweet on you Mom. You're the sweetest and the best!" Add some flowers and a couple of coupons for dish doing and chores that you and the kids are willing to do for her and she'll be amazed that you are so crafty and so creative and happy that you took the time to remember her on her special day!
